The Grapevine Wine Shop opened in September 2005. We offer select, hand made, small batch wines from around
the world. We also have a selection of olive oils, vinegars, olives and tapenades along with our great selection of
accessories and gift items. We do custom made gift baskets and have a small gallery for local artists to display and
sell their work. We have wine tastings in the special tasting room at the shop that has the feel of an old Tuscan wine
cave. We also offer private tastings either at the shop or at someone’s home.
Our service is what sets us apart. My staff and I have tasted and researched all of the wines we carry so we are
able to recommend a wine for any occasion, taste and budget. We will special order almost anything the customer is
looking for as long as we can find it. We also set ourselves apart by what we carry. Yes, we have the $200 bottle of
wine and will order the $1000 bottle, but we carry your everyday wines as well starting at $7.99. Match the
selection and service with the atmosphere, gifts and artwork, and you have a truly unique wine experience in
downtown Janesville.
I have been into wine for years, starting at a Four Star restaurant, then having formal wine training in college and
managing restaurants and country clubs. Owning my own business has always been a dream and what better business
than selling something you love.
I plan to keep increasing inventory in the shop along with someday adding some spirits and fine cheeses. I have also
been looking at expanding into online ordering.
The most influence on how I do business has been my customers. I listen to them and give them what they want, not
the other way around. Most of my customers are tired of the same old thing and are looking for something truly
unique. Whether it is a wine or gift or just looking for some answers, we seem to fill that void.
The most rewarding thing about my work is when a customer comes back and lets me know they loved something they
got here, and it brought them back as a repeat customer. When I see someone come in the door that has been here
before with a smile on their face I know I did something right.
What type of customers use my products and services? Everyone, we have something for everyone. My feeling on
what I sell is that people who tell me they don’t like wine just haven’t had the right kind yet or, if you are not a wine
drinker at all we have the gifts, food and artwork for you to enjoy. Come on in and see what we have to offer.
Hope to see you soon—
