I was born in Hartford, WI in the cold of January to the parents of twelve other
children; graduated Cum Laude from UW-Whitewater with a BAE in Art, with
certification to teach. I work primarily in 2-dimensional art with pastels and oil paints.
I lived in Janesville, WI with my family from 1976-2006. In 2004, I again became a
single woman and also concluded my years of homeschooling my children. It was now time
to resume living my life freely and fully and pursue dreams left behind long ago. I began
building canvases and choosing what I wanted to put on them and putting pastel on paper
and framing them. In pursuit of resuming my painting and drawing, my life is changing,
with a move to Madison, WI, setting goals and laying out plans to have a career in the art
field in some fashion.
MY PHILOSOPHY OF ART:
Art is creatively expressing experiences, thoughts and values by some physical media.
The things that are taken into consideration in the visual arts are subject matter,
expression, composition, and the use and knowledge of the medium.
Art is an expression; it should evoke or stir our emotions. True works of art invite in
depth participation by the viewer, the information is there, perhaps incomplete and will
allow you to complete or experience it more subjectively or emotionally. Art in its truest
form is an expression of emotions and leads those who appreciate art on the path to their
own spirit.
